Loans Boxes

Loans Boxes - A Superb Resource

"It was really easy to do, a great system" - Holy Trinity First School, Berwick upon Tweed

History in a Box

Explore our inspirational collection of over 20 loans boxes to support your delivery of the national curriculum in an exciting and hands-on way. Our timeline ranges from early civilisation to the 1960s with special boxes for Agriculture, Fishing, Railways, Washday and the ‘Box that Must Not be Named’. Children will handle original and replica items from the past, dress in replica clothing, read from books, listen to CDs, watch DVDs and look at photographs and drawings. Activity ideas for the boxes are included with every box

Memories in a Box

Our loans boxes help people recall memories and provide a meaningful and enriching experience for older people including object handling, sharing stories, talking and listening as well as art activities such as poetry, music, art and craft. They are ideal for older people groups and those living with dementia. Subjects range from history including history about the local area, World Wars I and II, Washday, 1950s and 1960s, Fishing, Glamour and Agriculture. Activity ideas for the boxes are included with every box.

Using Loans Boxes

Each box contains tens of items (see lists of contents) and contains activity ideas for how to use the boxes with children and with older people. Adult supervision is required at all times during use. Please ensure you read paragraph 12 of our Terms & Conditions which gives you full details about hire and use of our Loans Boxes.
