Spring in the Air
A striking new exhibition by Eta Ingham Lawrie
Tuesday 2nd February to Sunday 4th April 2027
An uplifting exhibition with popular Bailiffgate Exhibitor Eta Ingham Lawrie.
The inspiration for the work in this exhibition comes from the ever-changing light, mood & colour over land & sea. Working from small sketches straight onto the upright tapestry loom, Eta creates the 'canvas' & 'painting' simultaneously.
Wool from local sheep is Eta’s preferred medium, which is sorted, washed, and coloured with plant and mineral dyes. Sometimes she uses large felted pieces or card, blending and spinning the wool into multicoloured yarns. To add a variety of textures, Eta also includes other natural fibres & recycled threads, as well as 'found' objects such as shells and stones. Sometimes other techniques, such as crochet and knitting, are incorporated into the weaving as it is built and formed on the loom.
If you would like to create a tapestry like this, you can try it yourself at the workshops during the exhibition. Just click the links to book, either as a treat for yourself or as a unique and thoughtful present this Christmas!
( Each workshop £60 per person including materials)
