Border Raider

Border Raider is a speculative adventure for 9-12 year olds.  Written in response to concerns about children’s mental health during the current pandemic, Border Raider is set in the future to allow children to talk about their fears whilst distanced from the current pandemic,  Alnwick is depicted as a place of safety, where the young protagonist, Max, enjoys visiting Bailiffgate Museum while his sister Milly makes friends with the mice,

Max raids the border into independent Scotland to secure medicines and vaccines to save his stronghold (Alnwick Castle) from a new virus,  This leads to a thrilling adventure through Northumberland as Max tries to evade capture and reach his diverse new family before it is too late.

Borders to diversity are also raided.  Issues of race,  gender and sexuality are also subtly addressed to suit the age range..
