Short Walks Made Easy: Northumberland
£6.99
There is so much to explore and enjoy throughout Northumberland, England’s most northerly county and sixth largest by area. Dozens of possibilities from the stunning beach and North Sea backdrop of Bamburgh Castle to the little fishing port of Craster, the wildlife of Northumberland National Park to the starlight in England’s first International Dark Sky.
Not everyone, however is willing or able to undertake long walks. What is required by many are selected routes that encompass excellent sights and experiences, but involve modest ( 2 to 4 mile) experiences. This pocket-sized book published by Ordnance Survey meets that challenge exceptionally well. Ten selected routes , each one of course, clearly mapped, but also illustrated with many colour images and background stories about what you will see. Routes include walks at Berwick-upon-Tweed, Alnwick, Warkworth, Shaftoe Crags and Hadrian’s Wall.
The 80 pages include tips on accessibility, recommended footwear and guidance on what to take with you. There are also Nature Notes highlighting the plants and animals you may encounter.
Softback. Pocket sized for convenience ( 11c m x 18 cm). Published by Ordnance Survey
