People Make Alnwick Launch Event
Join us at Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery on October 3rd (National Poetry Day) for the launch of ‘People Make Alnwick’, a five-year programme of work Funded by National Lottery Community Fund, that will celebrate the people of Alnwick and District.
For this event we have commissioned poets Ralph Dartford and Kirsten Luckins to write an Ode to Alnwick. For one day they will be roaming the streets of the town as poets in residence. They will meet with schools, community groups, people doing their shopping, residents and visitors alike, capturing their voices and stories.
By sundown they will have written an epic poem in praise of Alnwick.
There will be a reading of the poem at 6.30pm in the Gallery Space at the museum, where you’ll have the opportunity to view our current exhibition ‘Lost Words’ from Fusion Textile Artists and hear about our plans for the coming years, and how you can get involved.
Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery belongs to the people who live in the town and we very much hope you will join us.

Latest News just in : We are thrilled that children from the Duchess High School Poetry Club will join us to read their own work. Led by poet/educator Catherine Ayres, they are outstanding young poets who produce their own pamphlets, have been shortlisted in national poetry competitions, and give readings around the town. Don’t miss Alnwick’s voices of the future.
