Loans Box : 1960’s Life

KS 2

Subjects: History, Music, Literacy, Art

Many consider the 1960’s to be the high point of British life, when British fashion and  music led the world and Carnaby Street was probably the most famous shopping area in the world.  The 1960’s 1960’s saw the beginning of modern consumerism  as wartime stringency was put behind us .  The trend of ‘only buy something when you’ve got the cash’ seemed to disappear. More and more retailers were providing more ways to buy items before you’d paid for them – the credit trend had begun and with it the booming in domestic appliances, pop music, cars and more. This Box is all about the “Swinging 60’s” and is well received by groups of older persons who were children or teenagers during this pivotal era, as well as anyone studying the development of modern Britain.
