Who would have thought that a sunny visit to Alnwick back in the summer of 2019 and in particular a visit to the Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery would have made such an impact on my life but it did. It was almost impossible for it not to suck me into volunteering. I was extremely impressed

An exploratory study will consider the feasibility of turning Alnwick’s historic Northumberland Hall into a museum. Northumberland County Council, the Trustees of Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery and Alnwick Town Council have been in discussions about the possibility of relocating the Bailifgate Museum and Gallery into the more spacious Northumberland Hall in the centre of Alnwick.

Our history mice have been knitted by one of the museum’s Friends . She said she could knit one each night but didn’t want to sew them up, nor did she want to dress them ! So that became my job . Sewing up wasn’t too difficult, and I did them in groups of five

Bailiffgate Volunteers have kept the Museum going throughout lockdown and have demonstrated very clearly that heritage and culture are so important to people, no matter what is happening in the world.
