Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery is a small, award-winning local museum and gallery in Alnwick led and run by a team of dedicated volunteers. It provides an ideal introduction the rich history of the Alnwick area and its people. By pre-booking our flexibly-dated entry tickets below, you can also save money.

We are enjoyed and used by all ages. Visitors to the town and our local community. Two floors house a permanent collection of fascinating artefacts, documents, photographs and audio visual content relating to the local and wider Northeast Northumberland area, its history and people.

On our third, Gallery floor are exhibitions which change throughout the year. Striking creations by local artists, craft works, features on particular topics such as “childhood” and “fashion” with an emphasis on local subjects and customs. For more details, see our What's On page. Entry to our exhibitions is always free with museum entry. We try to ensure that there is always something new for all ages to enjoy when you visit Bailiffgate. To maintain child interest we also provide a range of activities and games such as “Museum Detectives” and our well-known museum mouse hunts.

We also offer a wide range of carefully selected books focused on this area, in our museum shop. Many of these are not readily accessible elsewhere. Titles can be examined and bought during your visit, but can also be ordered at any time though our extensive online shop.

We are open Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays throughout the year except the Christmas/New Year period.

We are easy to get to. Our historic building is in the town’s Castle Quarter, very close to Alnwick Castle and Garden. It was previously a church, and provides a beautiful setting in which to celebrate 10,000 years of unique heritage.There is parking on the street outside, and we are only 0.3 of a mile from the town car parks and bus station. The nearest rail station -Alnmouth- is 4 miles away.

Under 5's come free, and you can save 10% for everyone else using the flexible tickets below, including an adult concession ticket. Your pre-purchased ticket is valid for one visit during your selected month, so as to allow maximum flexibility as a result of the weather and other activities.
