100 Years in the life of Embleton Terrace

£12.50

The second book by Jennifer Teulon, author of the hugely successful “Bathing House at Howick”  is  ” 100 Years in the life of Embleton Terrace”. This new book also captures the spirit of a unique location, this time a collection of houses  in Northumberland, built  for coal miners and their families in 1924. Unfortunately the pit flooded and it was abandoned soon afterwards.

Over the decades the Terrace has seen poverty and hardship- a world war, gradual recovery and development towards relative prosperity.

Residents have come and gone, but for many of them it remains a special place-  recognised by recent centenary celebrations. This is a unique story, told through a colourful combination of historical research, first-hand memories and picures-both black and white and colour.
