The Missing Creation from “100 Years of Fashion”

One of the stunning hand-created dresses in the current “100 Years of Fashion” exhibition at Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery is temporarily missing, for a very good reason. In February 2019 the outstanding designer Karl Lagerfeld, creative director of Chanel from 1983 sadly died. The fashion world has been planning a special memorial celebration for some time, and this was announced for 20thJune this year in Paris.

In homage to the great man, Stella Tennant, the international model has chosen to wear her beautiful Chanel dress created from Linton Tweed from Carlisle to the event.  That dress was amongst many unique creations she had lent to the Bailiffgate exhibition. Stella has promised to return it shortly, but in the meantime there are still a host of other wonderful designs, including one worn by the Duchess of Northumberland to be seen.  The exhibition is on from Tuesday to Sunday every week until 8thSeptember in Bailiffgate.
