Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery is seeking to appoint a Principal Contractor to deliver a programme of restoration, repair and refurbishment works to the historical (Grade 1 listed) Northumberland Hall in Alnwick, Northumberland, a project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Borderlands Place Programme and other grant funders.

Phase 1 of the Tender process is via a Standard Selection Questionnaire (SQ) available to download here

Bidders will be required to demonstrate competence and experience in relation to the SQ questions, and contractors must clearly demonstrate the necessary skills and experience for working on historic buildings including Grade 1 listed buildings.

This Pre-Qualification document forms part of the overall tender documentation, Phase 2 of the Tender process will involve successful shortlisted bidders to be invited to tender for works via a full Tender package to be sent out in June 2026, followed by interviews and panel assessment prior to appointment for mobilisation in August 2026.
