I’m delighted to share with you all that The Out of Town (OOT) Museum Project Team has received a Highly Commended award from the Marsh Trust in recognition of an outstanding contribution to engaging museum audiences.
The judges commented “ We were overwhelmed by the number and quality of the applications which we received, with some regions being exceptionally strong. Whilst The Out of Town (OOT) Museum Project were not the overall winner for the North East, the judges were particularly impressed by their contribution and wished to recognise this.”
I’m so proud of what we achieved with OOT, and wanted to share a comment from Katherine Williams who did the evaluation for OOT
“At the heart of this project are some incredible tales, memories and anecdotes. It is a privilege to be able to step into the lives of ‘ordinary’ (and also extraordinary) people, to hear their voices and to share their experiences. The fact that local people have felt included enough to share their lives in this way is testament to the dedication and respect shown by staff, consultants and volunteers. It is an experience that will be treasured by many (exhibition visitors, project participants and volunteers) for a long time”
Who were the amazing OOT Museum Project Team? Linda Allen, Mags Bell, Jane Mann, Deb Still, Jill Mallen (who sadly died in 2023), Jo Scott, Harry Henderson, Marcus Byron, Sally Brewis, Barbara Sexon, Valerie Apted, Lynda Wearn, Rhoda Foote, Fay Falconer, Sheila Starks, Mick Grant, Hilary Waugh, Frances Blezard, Liz Wood and Ian Waggott.
