Living in a small rural hamlet in Northumberland, lockdown put a new slant on my paintings. Seascapes are what I enjoy and a pallet of blues and ochres is my usual route. No longer able to drive the 10 minutes to the beach I was challenged to paint landscapes with a pallet I found difficult to work with at first. I walked the same road in the village most days for all of lockdown, watching sheep in waiting to giving birth and then gambling lambs. The vegetation changed, bare trees suddenly had blossom then leaves and flowers appeared in the hedgerows. There was no traffic. A wonderful way to observe nature but not to be repeated!
