The Aln Valley Railway is in the process of restoring the rail link between Alnwick and Alnmouth. It has established a new station base at Lionheart Business Park and will, in stages, progress towards Alnmouth where its trains will form a cross-platform link with those of the national rail system.

The first public ‘shuttles’ take place at Easter 2013 and later this year it is hoped to operate both diesel and steam hauled trains. The site is open at weekends and details of train services and special events can be discovered on the railway’s website. Volunteers in the engineering, operating and commercial areas of the railway’s operation will be made very welcome. Details of how to volunteer are also available on the website. Joining the railway provides you with an opportunity to take part in the development of Alnwick’s latest major tourist attraction!
