Become a Trustee

Our Trustees perform a vital role in overseeing all aspects of the Museum operation. Every attempt is made to ensure that our trustee board contains a wide variety of skills and experience.

Current Trustees are listed here, but we would welcome contact from anyone interested in serving now or in the future.

There is currently a vacancy for a Trustee who would be interested in assisting Bailiffgate with its Facilities Management issues:

TRUSTEE VACANCY – FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

About us:

Established in 2002, Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery is an award-winning accredited Museum under the Arts Council National Accreditation Scheme museum located in a beautiful, grade 2 listed, former Catholic church in the centre of Alnwick. It is run by volunteers (currently around 55) and attracts around 10,000 visitors per year. Our vision of “heritage at the heart of the community” places local history, culture, folklore, traditions, stories, art and environment at the centre of everything we do. Our main audiences are families, local people, older (retired) people and visitors to the area (tourists).

About the role

We are looking for an additional Trustee to be the main point of contact for Facilities Management. Each Trustee on the board has a specific area of ‘expertise’, whether it be Finance, Collections, Marketing, Exhibitions or Legal/Compliance. Your remit will be to oversee caring for the building and implementing our Facilities Management Plan. Experience of facilities management, property management or surveying is required.

Remuneration: The role of trustee is not accompanied by any financial remuneration

Location: Alnwick, Northumberland

Time commitment: 6 Board meetings per year, AGM, Trustee away day and strategy day

Reporting to: Board of Trustees.
